    About This Opportunity

    InComm Digital Solutions is adding an Information Designer III. The primary objectives for an Information Designer III are to:

    • Create and publish technical specifications, reference guides, learning materials, and data visualizations 
    • Collect and interpret technical data or information and coordinate layout for publication
    • Prepare and recommend creative solutions for comprehensive knowledge presentation
    • Design and apply data and information design strategies for effective consumption in alignment with organizational goals
    • Implement content categorization, classification, and tagging methods for efficient knowledge accessibility 

     

    Responsibilities

    In addition, an Information Designer III performs the following tasks: 

    • Delivers overview and hands-on training in a classroom environment, as required 
    • Works with the Information Services Manager to develop documentation and training strategies
    • Coordinates the review and information gathering process with technical leads and subject matter experts
    • Completes assigned documentation and instructional design tasks within appropriate schedule, assignment, and quality guidelines
    • Originates the audience analysis, requirements gathering, and content development stages of a documentation project 
    • Communicates with subject matter experts to gather the appropriate knowledge of and information about the software or technology and the customer's implementation 
    • Estimates and adheres to schedule, task, and quality guidelines of the project
    • Creates and maintains documentation components which may be part of a larger project 
    • Conducts walkthroughs of materials with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy of information 
    • Provides peer editing for other writers
    • Provides regular status and reports progress toward milestones to the Information Services Manager
    • Originates and maintains design, writing, and graphics style standards   
    • Records best practices based on analysis of success criteria 
    • Analyzes and recommends content development tools
    • Provides guidance and technical direction to team members; mentors less experienced team members
    • Demonstrates proficiency in problem solving, analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills 

    Qualifications

    An Information Designer III demonstrates the following abilities in their work experience:

    • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing; is clear, concise, and easily understood
    • Maintains knowledge of IT operations functions and concepts, and data processing concepts at an expert level
    • Maintains knowledge of information design methodologies and techniques at an expert level 
    • Learns new business applications and products quickly
    • Delivers advanced hands-on training in a classroom environment  
    • Analyzes, designs, and estimates documentation level of effort at an expert level 
    • Performs documentation production processes at an expert level 
    • Communicates complex technical concepts to multiple audiences 
    • Accommodates changing requirements 
    • Functions in a team environment, including leading effective knowledge transfer sessions
    • Works effectively across functional areas (IT Operations, Software Development, Application Support, Infrastructure) within the company
    • Manages time, priorities, and work efforts appropriately across multiple projects at an expert level 
    • Works well independently with little supervision
    • Raises issues appropriately and suggests solutions  
    • Operates Microsoft Office and Adobe Technical Communications software suites (including Captivate and RoboHelp), and other web authoring tools proficiently 

    An Information Designer II has achieved the following education requirements: 

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Technical Communication, Instructional Design, English, or Journalism preferred
    • Five or more years’ experience in technical information design and development
