    About This Opportunity

    InComm is currently seeking a Human Resources Manager to join our Employee Relations, HR team.  The Employee Relations team is responsible for providing human resources consultation and support to organizational leaders, managers, supervisors and employees regarding HR initiatives, company policies and employment best practices. Areas of support include: employee relations, performance management, compensation, organizational design and engagement for a respective assigned client group.


    This role will be based out of our Portland office and will primarily support InComm Digital Solutions.  However, it will also support 2-3 other InComm locations such as Redmond and Denver which, will require occasional travel as needed.  This role will support no more 500 employees and you will serve as the principal point of contact for employee and manager inquiries from assigned client groups, etc. regarding HR concerns and issues. 


    The HR Manager should have the following background:

    • At least 6 years of experience as an HR Manager or Generalist
    • Previous Employee Relations experience
    • Experience supporting at least 200 employees.  
    • The ability to build tough relationships
    • PHR, SPHR or SHRM certification is a plus



    The Human Resources Manager is the first point of contact for managers and employees to provide counsel, coaching and support on HR fundamentals in support of InComm’s Mission and Values. This role is critical in executing key HR initiatives, providing available and responsive internal employee support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. This role will support various local and remote client groups.


    Organizational Performance

    • Partner with Leadership teams to review and understand business and strategic requirements.
    • Implement all aspects of employee performance management; to include formal annual process guidance and tracking, education on performance standards, and ongoing managerial coaching for performance development and continuous feedback.
    • Implement succession-planning process, including career progression paths.
    • Partner with leadership to identify and develop top talent utilizing the talent management process. Develop and implement retention activities and succession strategies to retain high potential performers.
    • Analyze data on employee turnover, employee engagement surveys, exit interviews and other metrics, and make recommendations to enhance and improve HR programs and services.
    • Conduct focus group discussions in conjunction with management and employees to determine root cause of morale and retention issues where needed. Develop and implement action plans to increase employee engagement.


    Employee Relations

    • Provide expertise, consultation, guidance and coaching to managers to address employee behavior and performance concerns; provide guidance and assist with the development and delivery of appropriate feedback or corrective/disciplinary actions, and which aligns with company approach, practices, and processes.
    • Conduct HR investigations to include: gathering and analyzing facts, applying relevant laws, policies and past practice to reach conclusions, and recommend management actions. Partners with internal Employment Attorneys, Internal Audit, and other internal investigative bodies, as necessary.
    • Interpret and apply understanding of corporate policies and practices, employment law, and other regulations to provide advice, guidance, or clarification for ER inquiries.
    • Serve as facilitator and apply interventions to resolve low risk employee disagreements, conflicts, or misunderstandings if needed.
    • Collaborate and partner with internal Employment Attorneys, HR partners, and other HR teams/functions to achieve high quality, seamless HR support, and represent as “1 HR” to the business.
    • Maintain required documentation, including intake and investigative notes, supporting documents and final reports.
    • Manage or participate in special projects/programs requiring ER stakeholder input, as needed.
    • Identify and implement training initiatives to provide fundamental human resources knowledge to Supervisors and Managers in support of their roles as leaders.


    Employment and Compensation

    • Work with Managers to ensure functional structures have the right staffing. Help identify gaps and solutions.
    • Responsible for leading the functions in the building of high performance teams.
    • Support effective new hire experience and effective onboarding for all new hires and internal promotions.
    • Partner with the Compensation team to continually assess market place to ensure company is competitive in terms of compensation.


    Company Policies & Procedures

    • As a member of the HR team, the HR Manager will participate in the development and implementation of HR related policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for ensuring effective communication of these policies to the organization. The position will also be responsible for updating and ensuring all policies and procedures comply with current employment laws and practices.



    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related course of study, or equivalent work experience; Master’s preferred.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an HR Generalist, HR Manager, or direct work experience in employee relations.
    • 3 years' experience developing and executing against a strategic HR plan.
    • Strong capability to independently manage investigations and resolve sensitive employee relations issues.
    • Experience with conducting employee survey and focus groups.
    • Highly detailed and accurate written and verbal communication skills including facilitation and presentation experience.
    • Problem solving, diagnostic and consulting skills; Ability to use practical common sense and translate data to make decisions and determine priorities.
    • Ability to develop solid relationships to influence and drive results through others at all levels in the organization.
    • Ability to drive organizational change while coaching managers through the process.
    • Demonstrated project management skills.
    • Ability to react with a sense of urgency.
    • Ability to manage significant workload with multiple concurrent deliverables in a face-paced environment.
    • Familiarity with human resource automated processes.
    • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (including Excel & PowerPoint).


    Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

    • PHR, SPHR or SHRM certification preferred.


    Travel Requirements:

    • Domestic travel up to 30% of the time.
