About This Opportunity

The Accounting Clerk contributes in a significant way to the processing of IDS’ daily, weekly and monthly billing responsibilities for a specific line of business. Based in Portland, Oregon, this position is responsible for generating timely and accurate data for upload into the accounting system, processing returned mail, as well as minor collection work. This position will work closely with various internal and external parties, and reports directly to the IDS Accounting Manager.


  • Analyze and manipulate detailed transactional data from internal software systems for upload into accounting system
  • Follow documented procedures for billing operations including updating and maintaining information tables to ensure accuracy of financial data
  • Process gift cards that are returned on a daily basis
  • Assist in running reports and performing data analyses to ensure all activity is captured and accounted for according to GAAP
  • Assist with preparing monthly customer reconciliations
  • Conduct minor accounts receivable collections
  • Interact with internal customers to resolve any accounting issues and provide information
  • Participate in process improvements for automation of billing operations
  • Assist with ad hoc reports, special projects or other accounting tasks, as assigned


  • Associates, BA or BS degree preferred
  • Basic understanding of double-entry accounting
  • Must be detail oriented and strive for 100% accuracy
  • Strong time management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently or part of a team
  • Experience in Quickbooks and/or Oracle accounting information systems preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
