About This Opportunity

InComm is seeking a Manager II, Application Ownership to join our Application Ownership team.    This team is was formed in 2013 when the VP, Application Ownership was tasked with the responsibility of creating an environment dedicated to the maintenance and support of Java based prepaid applications.  The number of applications they’re responsible for supporting has grown from 30 to 125+ applications and there are currently 6 other Managers on the team.   

 

The Manager II, Application Ownership will be responsible for production support, ongoing project oversight, planning and the management of several prepaid applications as well as managed a team of Technical Systems Analyst and Software Engineers.  The Manager will test, plan, and deploy applications as well as assign TSAs to planning sessions.  You will collaborate and communicate with business partners (QA, Development and Operations) to establish process.

 

We are looking for someone with a background in the following:

  • Understanding of application support for Java based applications
  • Server Builds
  • Deployments
  • Understanding  of customer wants and needs
  • Ability to work between Operations and IT
  • Development background
  • Knowledge of Java, SQL, and some .net would be a plus

Responsibilities

As an Application Ownership Manager, the candidate should be able to manage strategy, design, continuous improvement, production support and ongoing new project work on identified applications. The candidate will also manage relationships with the business teams and IT partners to ensure ongoing collaboration.

 

The job responsibilities include but not limited to:

 

  • Establish ongoing communication channel between business / customers and development teams.
  • Assist business owners in defining project scope, and manage scope changes from business stakeholders
  • Provide after-hours coverage/escalation & offer support on-call rotation
  • Ongoing review of bottlenecks for application performance and implement strategic fixes to better the performance.
  • Implement process for archival of data to improve application performance.
  • Implement Performance improvements in Database queries to improve application performance.
  • Upgrade existing hardware for applications or databases to bring them to current standards and also improve performance
  • Develop SME knowledge on applications.
  • Provide opportunities for learning and career growth for team members.
  • Improve processes to streamline ongoing development, deployments and provide release communication to stake holders.
  • Provide assistance for project documentation - Requirements, Use Cases and Sequence diagrams for new projects.
  • Review requirements from business/ customers for improvements / bug fixes and coordinate with development / ownership to implement them.
  • Constantly review existing implementations and propose ways to simplify development, deployments and maintenance
  • Create monitors and alerts on applications and application resources for proactive knowledge of system issues before customers or business members.
  • Resolve escalated support incidents and effectively communicate the solution across relevant teams
  • Oversee development tasks involving bug fixes, maintenance coding and new projects
  • Create and maintain documentation on the platform, such as platform details, playbooks, escalation procedures, and any other that becomes a necessity    

Qualifications

 

 

  • 5+ years of experience in leadership role
  • 10+ years of IT experience
  • Experience with networking, databases, and business analysis
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills both verbal and written 
  • Experience in managing multiple assignments
  • Demonstrated technical management experience in organizing, planning and executing development projects from conception through implementation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of system integration issues between diverse platforms
  • Experience in leading work teams and or technical staff

 

Education

 

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience
