About This Opportunity

Incomm is seeking a Solutions Engineer to launch Capacity Planning utilizing the VMWare vRealize Operations and Business tools.  This resource will research Management Packs for the vRealize Operations and Business so all capacity information will be inside vRealize Operations.  Once all data is inside vROps, then the focus will be on completing the costing exercise within vRealize Business to setup and deploy showback and chargeback.

 

This is an excellent opportunity to expand on your virtualization experience and learn new tools like vRealize to support the vRealize Operations tool at InComm.  The right candidate will have experience with performance monitorying and troubleshooting in a Virtualized environment with VMware tools.  

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Support VRealize Operations tool at InComm.
  • Ensure all capacity data is captured within vRealize Operations and all costing data is captured within vRealize Business.
  • Provide Capacity reports on infrastructure to Capacity Planners.
  • Work with Splunk admin team to integrate VROPS data into Splunk where needed.
  • Ensure that necessary data is sent from VROPS into Splunk, and maintain this process and add to it as needed.  
  • Work with Infrastructure team to install and maintain appropriate VROPS mgmt. packs.
  • Use Splunk to create monitoring dashboards.
  • Research Management Packs for vRealize Operations/Business.
  • Build capacity models using vRealize Operations including seasonal demand, M&A activities, and datacenter migrations.
  • Build costing models including Operational and Capital costs for Showback and Chargeback.
  • Install and configure EndPoint agents on internal vBlock components.
  • Use VROPS for reporting needs within the Infrastructure Support Team.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years experience in administration/development in the following software tools:
    • VMware tools such as VROPS, VCOPS, VSphere, Virtual Center
    • Splunk reporting, dashboarding, configuration of monitoring
  • Scripting experience - Python, VB, Perl, or similar
  • Opsview experience a plus
  • Experience in Windows and Linux (basic usage of servers in those platforms, familiar with command line interface, and performance monitoring)
  • 1 year of Splunk experience (end user or dashboard development)
  • 5 – 7 Years IT experience
  • Helpful: Experience in performance analysis of applications, finding cause of performance problems in applications
  • Strong communications skills – both written and verbal, ability to work with Development teams
