About This Opportunity

The Accounting Clerk contributes in a significant way to the processing of IDS’ daily, weekly and monthly billing responsibilities. Based in Portland, Oregon, this position is responsible for generating timely and accurate data for upload into the accounting system. This position reports directly to the IDS’ Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage Excel to analyze and manipulate detailed transactional data from internally-developed software system for upload into accounting system
  • Follow documented procedures for billing operations including updating and maintaining information tables to ensure accuracy of financial data
  • Able to receive and follow directions, with the ability to communicate clearly with Accounting Manager and/or Staff Accountant on day-to-day billing tasks
  • Assist in running reports and performing data analyses to ensure all activity is captured and accounted for according to GAAP
  • Interact with internal customers to resolve any accounting issues and provide information accordingly
  • Participate in process improvements for automation of billing operations
  • Assist with ad hoc reports, special projects or other accounting tasks, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of double-entry accounting
  • Requires 1-3 years relevant experience
  • Must be detail oriented and strive for 100% accuracy
  • Strong time management skills in order to meet deadlines
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently or part of a team
  • Experience in Quickbooks accounting information systems preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
